New Mini Aceman is an all-electric compact SUV

Without straying too far from the original concept (as many manufacturers have been doing, whether it’s for nostalgic reasons or just because “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”), the new Mini Aceman takes the inspiration of the classic and quirky Mini and reinterprets that icon into a 21st century EV with a little more space.

Mini will initially offer the Aceman in two variants: E and SE. The E uses a single electric motor that gets 184 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque, reaching 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The E has an estimated WLTP range of up to 310 km (WLTP estimates are notoriously generous, so expect less range by NRCan and EPA standards).

The SE will get 218 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, and a run to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. The SE gets a larger 54.2 kWh battery pack (42.5 kWh in the E) and therefore a larger estimated range of 406 km, based on the WLTP test. Mini says at a fast-charging station, the Aceman can go from 10 to 80 per cent in just under 30 minutes.
