Survey: drivers globally want cheap electric cars that maybe don't drive themselves
Consumers want electric cars but don’t want to pay much more to get them — and while automakers are shelling out to bring self-driving cars to market, drivers are losing interest in them.
That’s the scoop from consulting firm Deloitte in its 2020 Global Automotive Consumer Study, which looked at six major world markets (and lumped Canadian responses into the American market).
The study also found customers are concerned about privacy as cars collect their data, and don’t trust automakers to be the ones to hold onto it. And while experts tout multimodal mobility as the next big thing, with people connecting between public and private transportation, most people want to get to their destinations in a single trip.
