2020 Lincoln Corsair coming with updated looks and a hybrid powertrain

Lincoln’s new Corsair SUV will be made available with three powertrains including a hybrid option when it hits dealerships later this year, according to newly discovered documents.

The technically new Corsair – which ditches Lincoln’s old and confusing three-letter naming system for a more elegant nautical-themed moniker – is actually the old MKC with a facelift for 2020.

But we don’t want to over-simplify—there’s more to this crossover than meets the eye.

Corsair is the French word for “pirate,” though the name was also worn by a Second World War American fighter plane, so this is immediately a more interesting name than the bland “MKC” designation. The Corsair will share a platform with the upcoming Ford Escape, known as the C2.
