The Fiat 500e will brighten up the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show

The 2024 edition of the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (MEVS) will be held on April 19, 20 and 21 at the Olympic Stadium and one model that will attract the attention of visitors will certainly be the new Fiat 500e 2024.

Presented in its launch edition (500e)RED, almost as red inside as outside, this cute city car can boast of being the most affordable electric vehicle in Canada currently, which is offered at the price all inclusive of $42,190.

We must of course not forget the federal grant of $5,000 as well as that of the Quebec Roulez vert program, which amounts to $7,000. At least, until December 31st, 2024. After this date, the rebate will decrease to $4,000, meaning that the car will roughly cost 10% more. Furthermore, the Trudeau government has not yet confirmed that its own incentive program will be maintained as is beyond March 2025. We will have to wait until the next budget is tabled on April 19 to find out for sure.

Fun Getaways…Not Too Far

The new 500e promises fun driving and will suit both fans of the old gas-powered 500 and electric car buyers considering models like the Nissan LEAF or MINI Cooper SE. You have to be aware of the compromises it imposes, whether in terms of power or autonomy.

In the first case, the electric motor's 118 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque propel the tiny 1,361 kg Italian from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 8.5 seconds. Then, with the 42 kWh battery fully recharged, an operation which has the advantage of being quite quick (4 hours and 15 minutes via a 240 volt domestic terminal), the car can travel up to approximately 240 km. Via a 100 kW fast terminal like those of the Electric Circuit, going from 0 to 80% requires 35 minutes.
