BMW introduces all-electric iX2 with over 400 km of range

The reveal of the second-generation BMW X2 took place at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. While it will be available with gas and diesel engines, the big news was the world premiere of the all-electric iX2. It will launch beginning March 2024.

Underpinning BMW’s latest Sports Activity Vehicle is a new platform with a longer wheelbase. It’s capable of supporting gas and diesel engines as well as a fully-electric powertrain — further out a second electric model will be added to the iX portfolio.

There will be three- and four-cylinder engines along with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Of the gas-powered units, it’s the X2 M35i xDrive M Performance that will appeal to petrol heads. The 317 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm is channelled through a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox and all four wheels.
