BMW adds new AWD model to its all-electric i4 series
BMW is adding a new all-wheel-drive (AWD) model to its all-electric i4 range with the 2024 i4 xDrive40, alongside the i4 eDrive 35, eDrive40 and M50. It will go on sale in Canada in the fourth quarter of 2023, starting at $69,900.
That all-wheel is achieved by adding a second electric motor to the front wheels. The new model produces 396 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, and scoots from zero to 100 km/h in an estimated 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/h.
It uses the same 81.5-kWh battery as the eDrive40 and M50, and will have an estimated range of up to 494 km on a charge, which slots it between those two.
