Ministry of Interior Affairs: 2023 VinFast VF 8
Some will say there’s no need to fix what wasn’t broken. Others will wonder why it took so long for an automaker to rethink features that haven’t changed for decades.
Either way, VinFast pushes the functionality envelope in its first vehicle to land in North America, the VF 8 midsize SUV.
By now you may have heard about this start-up automaker from Vietnam, a subsidiary of the country’s largest conglomerate and the first Vietnamese automaker to branch out into global markets. You may also have learned about how its battery leasing program will work: you buy the car, but you lease the battery via a monthly or flat fee, meaning it’s the one portion of the car that you never own.
