Google Maps can now route Canadian EV drivers past charging stations
Electric vehicles are, if you hadn’t noticed, becoming much more prevalent on our roads, but as more people buy these things, more drivers are going to realize there isn’t much infrastructure yet to support them. Google realizes this, and is now doing its part to try and make EV ownership a little more bearable.
The Google Maps app built into some EVs’ infotainment systems can now recommend a route that keeps you close to charging stations, which should quell some fears about range anxiety on a road trip.
The updated Maps app pulls this off via “newly developed routing algorithms that use a type of math called graph theory,” the company says.
